Can mums have goals and aspirations for the future......WE CAN and WE WILL!

I want a clean house, I want to be a size 10, I want to landscape the garden, I want to become a fire breather, I want to travel the world, I want to be an author, I want my own yacht, I want to read 100 books, I want to thrive, I want my kids to be healthy, I want to poo in peace and I WANT TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO. Any of these ring a bell? Do you get that feeling sometimes as a mum that regardless of being extremely grateful and overwhelmed with pride that you are blessed with children, that there is something more you need to be doing? It's like a little itch you try and scratch with retail therapy, wine and chocolate. Yet it comes back to you in the quiet moments, 2am when they are all fed, watered, washed and asleep. I'm just writing to you to say it's ok to find out what that itch is and scratch it! (if you think its thrush I can't help but pharmacies are still open go get your cream and do your thing sister). What you need is some quiet reflection time to figure out what your itch is and moving towards achieving it. 3 WAYS FOR MUMS TO GET ALONE TIME TO CONTEMPLATE YOUR MISSING ITCH AND PLAN TO RESOLVE IT 1. Announce to the family you've joined a gym and will be going regularly from now on your health depends on it and you must not be deterred. Get your workout clothes on, drive to a quiet scenic area put the heated seats on now with a notebook/coffee/farleys rusk think about what gives you the most flutters and why?.. that is where your passion lies! ...(family may start to sympathise with you when they realise you are going 3 times a week and not loosing a pound let them comfort you, no one can argue with mums healthy new gym schedule) 2. After a takeaway head to the toilet gripping your stomach making sure to alert the family it's going to be a long one, you will return when it's safe to leave the confines of the lavatory DO NOT DISTURB! Plan ahead and have your notebook and pen tucked behind the bog. Now use this time to start brainstorming what you would do if you had all the time and money in the world along with no responsibilities or commitments?.....(Maldives/bungee jump/sleep for 72 hours straight) 3. Start drinking coffee or other caffeinated drinks around 7pm twice a week and once everyone's in bed you will be wide awake ready to tackle a night of goal setting and inspirational podcasts (you have survived months without sleep and a bubba hanging off your nip, a couple of nights a week will be a walk in the park) make sure to set small achievable steps to get to where you want to be. In all seriousness think BIG think LIMITLESS think THIS IS WHAT I WAS BORN TO DO BITCHES and I'm going to get started on it bit by bit whilst continuing to be a shit hot hard working mama! Why well because when my kids are grown up with their own lives visiting less often between the time of becoming a grandparent and becoming a care home resident what will I do where do I want to be?..... If you will be your most content spending that time when they are grown, curled up in a beautiful library with a cracking book and a jug of pimms then do that! It's your time you deserve it and it's your dream after all start filling that bookcase up now and growing those cucumbers to go in the pimms. It may be you know you want to be doing something different when that time comes like running a little side business, travelling the globe are you putting things in place bit by bit now to make that a reality in 5,10,15 years time because that time really will fly.

My New Years Eve mum mantra

Well done for simply everything you have done in 2020 you are a force to be reckoned with.......Now the future is full of possibilities where do you see yourself in 10 years time, is what your doing now getting you closer to it, how are you going to get there.....
